Farmhouse Garden, Shillingford

Originally this farmhouse had no garden - the mud came up to the windowsills with a dramatic drop to the back door.

Our clients wanted a garden for relaxing, entertaining and somewhere for their children to play.

This project required us to use pretty much every type of landscaping, from ground works, to sleeper walls, from pergolas to a car port.

The clients decided that they would like three shaped tiers to make the garden look more interesting. We shaped the earth using a 7.5 tonne digger.

After levelling the field the first area of the garden to be completed was the patio, pergola and well. The white wall behind the pergola is retaining the soil from the fields above.

Sleeper Wall and Play Area

Sleepers make a focal point within the garden and retain the soil from the top level. Bark chippings create a safe area for children to play in.

Dry Stone Wall and Gravelled Steps

These small gravelled steps begin the transformation from Carport to Garden.

Carport

The Carport was built using concrete blocks to retain the soil from the garden above.

Gravelled Driveway with Wooden Gate

We levelled the driveway to make parking and access to the Carport as easy possible.
